Julius Hui

Lots of amazing Chinese type on his site. I especially like how he lays bare the variables shaping his work throughout the portfolio—sometimes he has to design the characters so as to fit in with pre-existing Latin type, sometimes he aligns them with traditional forms, sometimes he takes the type in an experimental new direction. In most projects there’s an image like this or this which dissects a few of the characters and shows how they’re affected by guiding pressures, it’s an interesting look into the process.
